Altona Road Day Care Centre

Altona Road Day Care Centre has both trained Early Childhood Educators and Assistants to care for your child. We provide daily programming throughout the day, creating an caring atmosphere for our children to learn.

We are inspected by Durham Region Health Department, Durham Region Child Care Division, and the Ministry of Community and Family Services. The Centre is licensed on an annual basis to ensure we meet government standards.

Altona Road Day Care Centre is a non-profit corporation with a Board of Directors made up of parent volunteers. Durham Professional Home Day Care Inc. is the name of our parent organization and our Board of Directors is made up of 10 Directors from both divisions. We have monthly Board Meetings to over see the operation of the Corporation. (Meeting are not held in December, July and August).

Preschool Program

For children aged 2.5 years to 5 years of age. 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

School Age Program

Before and After school Program, with care from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm on PA days and School Closure.

Nutrition

In our Preschool Program we provide a nutritious lunch and two snacks a day. Our Menu works on a six-week rotation with a summer and winter menu. The Menu is posted on the Bulletin board for our parent's information.

The School age Program provides an afternoon snack when the children return from school. On P A days, and scheduled school closures the Centre provides a morning snack and lunch as well.

Parental Involvement

Monthly newsletters are sent out to our families to keep parents informed. Our weekly themes, birthdays, fundraising, and reminders are included.

We have an Annual Christmas / Holiday Concert every year. Parents, Grandparents, Aunt, Uncles and family friends are all welcome.

Parent Volunteers for our occasional field trips are always welcome.

Holidays

Altona Road Day Care Centre observes all statutory holidays: New Year's Day,

Good Friday, Victoria Day, Dominion Day, Civic Holiday , Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, Boxing Day. If your child's regular scheduled day is on the holiday, full payment is required.

The Centre is closed for the 3 business days between Christmas and New Years. There is no charge for the 3 days the centre is closed.

Summer holding fee

If a parent would like to withdraw their child for a minimum of 8 consecutive weeks, during the summer, a holding fee of $100.00 can be paid to maintain the child's space for September.
